ABS Problem Nissan Altima

E-mail Print PDF

ABS warning light comes ON, also engaging prematurely.  The vehicle is 2002 Nissan Altima.  This customer went to 2 other shops to have this problem solved. The trouble code was “36”, which pointed out to “left rear wheel sensor short “. The other shops tested this sensor but resulted with no fault with L/R sensor. The sensor was still good. Both shops advised to take his Altima to Nissan dealer to have it fixes, and they said it might need a new ABS module which would cost over $1,000 for just parts alone.

We inspected visually for all related ABS components, connectors and condition of wirings. They all appeared in good order. We scanned and confirmed CODE 36. We equipped our Snap-on Modis, ( which is advanced scanner, graphing meter and oscilloscope) onto this Altima and went for a road test. We save the screen to Modis. We advised customer that the L/R wheel sensor should be replaced. After we got an authorization, sensor was replaced and car was fixed. I attached results of 4 wheel sensors graphing with troubled sensor and with new sensor. You can see clearly the difference in pattern.ABS wheel sensors
